Interior Design for Park View City

An interior design guide for Park View City Islamabad, where hillside plots and Margalla views shape every design decision. Learn how to frame the view, control light and heat, and finish a new house with lasting quality.

Interior Design for Park View City

A Location That Should Lead the Design

Park View City sits against the backdrop of the Margalla Hills, and that single fact should influence almost every interior decision made inside its homes. Plots slope, elevations differ from street to street, and many properties enjoy long views across greenery and rising terrain. Few residential areas in Islamabad offer that quality of outlook, so an interior that ignores it is a genuine missed opportunity.

The community is also relatively new, which means a large share of houses are being finished for the first time rather than renovated. That is an advantage. Decisions about electrical routing, lighting position, window specification and joinery can be made correctly from the start instead of being corrected later at several times the cost.

How Living Solutions Global Helps in Park View City

We at Living Solutions Global are an Islamabad based consultancy with a dedicated design and delivery division, and we work extensively with homeowners finishing new houses in developing sectors of the capital. For a first time finish we prepare a complete technical package covering layout, lighting and electrical positions, joinery drawings, bathroom elevations, flooring setting out and a fixed material schedule, so nothing is decided in a rush on site. Our residential interior design team then works alongside our own fit out services crews to execute the work, which keeps quality and timeline under a single accountability. We are experienced in reporting remotely for owners living abroad, and families who prefer a woman leading site measurement and design consultations can request our female interior designer in Islamabad. Where a property is being finished with resale or rental in mind, our advisory team can also help align specification with your real estate investment goals.

Frame the View Deliberately

Treat the best window in the house as a piece of art and design the room around it. That means positioning the main seating to face or angle towards the view rather than towards a television on the opposite wall. It means keeping the wall around a view window quiet and unfussy so nothing competes with what is outside. It also means avoiding heavy pelmets and layered drapery that crowd the opening.

Where a room has one strong outlook, consider a window seat or a pair of armchairs positioned specifically to use it. In dining areas, orient the table so the majority of seats enjoy the outlook. Small planning decisions like these cost nothing and produce the strongest emotional response from anyone who visits the house.

Control Heat, Glare and Dust

A view usually comes with strong exposure, and elevated hillside plots in Islamabad receive intense summer sun. Large glazing must therefore be specified properly. Insulated double glazed units with good frames and seals reduce heat transfer, cut noise and limit dust entry. External shading through deep overhangs, pergolas, fixed louvres or planted screens is far more effective than internal blinds because it stops heat before it reaches the glass.

Inside, use a two layer window treatment. A light sheer provides daytime privacy and softens glare while retaining the outlook, and a lined blackout panel handles evenings, bedrooms and afternoon heat. Mount tracks close to the ceiling so the fabric frames the window fully and the wall reads taller.

Interior Materials for a Hillside Home

Homes near the hills experience more grit, pollen and seasonal moisture than inner city properties. Choose matt and textured finishes that conceal dust rather than high gloss surfaces that reveal every particle within hours. Mid tone floors are the most forgiving. Large format porcelain or honed stone effect tiles suit ground floors, while engineered wood adds warmth and quiet to bedrooms and upper levels.

Bring in natural texture to echo the setting. Timber ceiling detail on a covered terrace, stone or lime wash textured feature walls, cane cabinet fronts, wool rugs and linen curtains all belong here. Keep the busy zones practical with quartz or sintered stone worktops, washable paint in corridors and performance fabrics on the main family seating.

A Colour Palette Drawn From the Hills

The natural surroundings offer a ready made palette. Deep forest and olive greens, warm stone and sand tones, soft ivory and muted charcoal all sit beautifully against a Margalla backdrop and never look dated. Keep the large surfaces calm and let colour arrive in controlled moments such as a feature wall behind the bed, a darker dining ceiling for intimacy, or brass and bronze hardware on joinery.

Avoid the temptation to fill a view facing room with strong pattern. The window already provides all the visual interest the space needs, and quiet interior surfaces will make the outlook feel even more dramatic.

Getting the First Finish Right

Because so many Park View City homes are being finished for the first time, the order of work matters enormously. Complete all buried and disruptive items before anything decorative begins. That means electrical and data routing with generous socket provision, lighting circuits planned room by room, plumbing corrections, air conditioning routing, bathroom waterproofing and window installation.

Flooring comes next, then fixed joinery. Custom carpentry in Pakistan remains excellent value, so invest in full height wardrobes, well organised kitchen cabinetry, wall mounted television units and any library or study shelving at this stage. Spend on hardware, meaning hinges, drawer runners and handles, because these are the components that determine whether joinery still feels good in five years.

Lighting a New House Properly

Lighting is the easiest thing to get right in a new build and the most expensive to fix later. Plan three layers in every significant room. Ambient light spread across several positions rather than one central fitting, task light where people cook, read, work and dress, and accent light to graze textured walls, wash curtains and highlight art.

Specify warm white sources in living and sleeping areas, keep colour temperature consistent within each room, and install dimmers on the main circuits so a space can move from bright daytime use to soft evening atmosphere. Add concealed cove lighting in perimeter ceiling details and strips under kitchen wall cabinets for high impact at modest cost. Finally, plan external lighting for the facade, driveway and garden, because in a home with a view the darkness outside becomes part of the interior experience at night.

Storage and Everyday Function

New houses often look beautiful in photographs and then fill with clutter because storage was never planned. List what your household actually stores, including seasonal quilts, guest crockery, luggage, sports equipment and children's belongings, and give each category a designated location.

Build wardrobes to the ceiling with a dedicated upper compartment for bedding. Add a bench with concealed shoe storage at the entrance. Use under stair volume for cabinets or a compact powder room. Include a properly planned utility area for washing, ironing and cleaning equipment so those activities never spill into living space.

Outdoor Living and Rooftops

A hillside plot with a view deserves a genuinely usable outdoor room. Provide shade through a pergola or roof extension, weather resistant seating, planted containers and warm exterior lighting. On flat accessible rooftops the potential is even greater, since the elevation often reveals the best panorama on the property. From October through April these spaces become the most used part of the house.

Plan power points, lighting circuits and a water outlet for planting during construction. Retrofitting services into finished paving is disruptive and costly.

Budgeting and Phasing

Finish a new house in disciplined phases. The first phase covers everything hidden, structural or difficult to reverse. The second covers decorative lighting, wardrobe interiors, kitchen appliances and bathroom accessories. The third covers loose furniture, curtains, rugs, art and outdoor areas. Keep a contingency of ten to fifteen percent, agree a written material schedule before work starts, and tie payments to inspected milestones rather than dates.

Final Thoughts

Park View City offers something rare in Islamabad, which is a residential setting where the landscape genuinely enhances daily life. Interiors here should be quiet, well built and oriented towards the view, with proper attention to glazing, shading, dust and lighting. Get the technical foundations right during the first finish and the house will remain comfortable and beautiful for decades. If you would like a structured design and delivery process for your home, our Islamabad team is ready to help.
